gay rights, guitar and pool...

there's really, really good news coming from massachusetts (my childhood stomping grounds!) where they lifted the ban on same sex marriages and if you ask me, it's about time someone took the plunge. it's almost as if a lot of these people (mostly heads of states) have no problem, really, with the whole concept of unions within the gay community, it's just that they don't want to offend straight people and the catholic church by calling it marriage. well, shit, call it whatever the hell you want.. just give us all the same rights, you know? i mean, you have howard dean who's supposed to be all pro-gay and what not, and claims that he thinks gay couples should be afforded civil unions, but not marriage. what's the damn difference? give us the same rights and you can call it the blue sky law or the green grass ruling, doesn't really matter, does it? it doesn't to me. at any rate, it's great news, and i'm packing my bags right now and moving to boston on friday.

just kidding...

so did i ever mention that i took up guitar lessons again? yup, i had my second guitar lesson on saturday and i'm loving my teacher.. she's really cool and very talented and the classes are really reasonably priced. i just learned to play bob marley's "redemption song" and so i'm like strumming it every day and singing out loud.. and wouldn't ya know c is officially sick of that song. i'm just really happy to be back taking guitar lessons. it's just one of those things that makes me feel creative regardless of whether or not i'm really good at it. i'm hoping though that this time around i'll really get into it and take it to another level. i'll let you know when i'm touring in your city. woooh.. i crack myself up. on a daily basis.

in other hobby news, pool league is going well. we had a bit of drama between one of my friends and another friend's boyfriend, but where's the fun without the drama? it has since been resolved, though it's very likely the boyfriend will be booted off the team next year. the name of our team is a play on racial/sexist slurs that we all agreed upon: "3 chicks, two spics and a honky", though i wanted the 3 chicks part to be replaced with 3 dot heads, but that was a no go for some odd reason. eventually we're gonna try to make it a brown people team because the rest of the league is just way too not brown. the good news, though, is that our team is definitely in the play-offs. every tuesday we play a tournament and each person gets to play 3 games. well, i've yet to have a 3-0 night. every single night has been 2-1. i'm not sure what the deal is. i'm determined tonite to win all 3 of my games. and it'll happen, because i wrote about it. you know? seriously though, the top 16 women get to be in the "all star game". my jersey number is 23. ok, no jerseys, but it's cool, you get to play the best females in the league and win money, trophies etc. so anyway, i'm literally 17th on the stat sheet. so if i don't win big tonite, i could lose all hope of making it to the all star game. and that would just be tragic because, ahem, i am an all star dammit!

i'm a libertarian-left, what are you?

i snagged this from george who's just cut off all his locs and is looking mighty snazzy!

turns out i'm a libertarian-left (umm.. who knew? hehehe) according to the political compass. my political compass reading yields the following results:

economic left: -6.62
libertarian: -6.31

it even tells you who your views are similar to; in my case, it's gandhi, nelson mandela and the dalai lama. i believe i'm in fantastic company! now if only i could change the world...
